Why is My Electricity Bill So High?

March 4, 2025, 6 pm

Have you noticed your electric bill increasing? We certainly have. Electric prices are high, but this summer they are expected to surge even higher, to the tune of billions of dollars paid by everyday Pennsylvanians and their families.

EEA was pleased to be part of this event hosted by PennFuture and Conservation Voters on Tuesday, March 4 to explain more about who’s in charge of Pennsylvania electricity and how we can work to make it more affordable. Hear from experts who talk about where our energy comes from and how it’s connected to energy companies like PECO and Duquesne Light, how prices are set, and the steps that need to happen to lower costs while demand for energy keeps going up.

Speakers include:

  • Molly Parzen, Executive Director at Conservation Voters of Pennsylvania
  • Pat McDonnell, President & CEO at PennFuture
  • Robert Routh, Policy Director, Pennsylvania, Climate & Energy at NRDC
  • Bishop Marcia Dinkins, Black Appalachian Coalition
  • Jeaneen Zappa, Executive Director at Energy Efficiency Alliance
